Rabbits
Rabbits
Rabbits are loving animals and very playful they can live inside or out doors. If a rabbit is being houseed outdoors they will need a large hutch with a run.  The hutch much be cleaned regularly to avold files being attracted and the rabbit becoming ill Rabbits can become ill with flystrike which is an unpleasnt and distressing condition which occurs in the summer months when flies lay their eggs around rabbit's bottoms and faeces in the hutch. Good hutch hygiene and good health care is the best defence.

Flies are attracted by a sticky bottom or diarrhoea if the are not maggots then carefully rinse the area with warm water and mild soap. Then thoroughly dry your rabbit and put it in a warm enviroment to prevent hypothermia. If you do see any maggots, immediately remove them suing a pair of tweezwes and contact your vet straight away. You much make sure your rabbit has a balanced complete diet in order to avoid the side effects of digestive disturbances like diarrhoea.

A dirty hutch and bedding is a magnet for flies, Use plenty of good quality absorbent bedding in your rabbit's toilet area to avoid excess moisture. Once  a week throughty clean and disinfect the hutch. You have to remove everything from the hutch and disinfect it with a purpose made solution suitable for use with small animals.
Rabbit Hutches

Rabbits need feeding twice a day once in the morning and once at night. Plenty of exercise is important as rabbits are  naturally very active animals. Rabbits are also prey animals and need a protected run with a box to hide in and lots of playthings. Most rabbit like being handled as long as you take care.
Rabbit Food

Rabbits do enjoy having a companion, but you would need a hutch that can comfortably house both of them. You can have two rabbits of  different gender (neutered) together or two does from the same litter. Please don't keep rabbits with guinea pigs, as bullying of both species can occur.
